Etiquette Tips for Runners - Ask Run Guy

Etiquette Tips

There are several running etiquette tips that can be learned over time and experience.

The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) offers a popular running etiquette brochure that covers rules of the road and trails, general rules for running in an event, race etiquette on a course, aid station etiquette, finish line etiquette and award winner etiquette. You can view the brochure online here.

Good general rules in all cases is:

  • treat other runners, volunteers, fans, like you’d like to be treated
  • do whatever you can to remain safe while running
  • leave the area that you run in as clean or cleaner than when you visited it
