GPS Watches

Global Positioning System (GPS) watches and devices are useful for tracking several aspects of recreational and training runs, including:

  • Mileage
  • Path covered
  • Pace per mile or KM (split) and total time spent running
  • Elevation increase / decrease
  • Steps taken or calories burned
  • And much more

I’ve preferred using Garmin GPS watches for reliability, compact size, simplicity and clarity of menus and display screens.  Other popular GPS devices include Apple Watch and Fitbit.

Apps to Record and Share Data

Using these GPS devices works well with applications such as Strava and Map My Run to keep a record of running activity and history, and to share your running activities with friends and family on social media.
