Traveling to races is a great source of enjoyment and adventure in combining the fun of running, with vacationing and experiencing new places in the world.  But it can also be very stressful if you don’t know specifics about the logistics related to navigating the vital parts of the race travel trip.  Download the AskRunGuy Run Travel Logistics PDF from the Tools section.  I print this document on bright colored paper.  It is then easy to find and has all my vital trip  information for convenient reference during the race trip.  It includes:

• Airline flight numbers and departure and arrival times
• Rental car specifics: Address, phone numbers, etc
• Race expo address and times 
• Hotel name, phone number, checkout out times, shuttle transportation
• Race lineup and start times 
• Other race info such as pasta dinners, guest speakers, etc. 
• Space for other notes such as tourist items of local interest to see, race-related concerts, group meeting plans, etc. 

Having all this information on one brightly colored sheet helps relieve stress and keeps your organized so you can enjoy the weekend.  Running the race can be hard and stressful enough.  You should remove worry about race trip logistics, so the race trip will be fun and positive, and memorable for the right reasons.
